Colin Offord is a vocalist, an inventor and player of original instruments, a designer of musical theatre pieces, world musician and sonic sculptor. He has created an artistic language born of the Australian cultural landscape that also synthesizes his Anglo-Celtic and Western post-modern heritage. Offord has developed a unique singing style which he accompanies with his Great Island Mouthbow, an original string instrument played with a variety of techniques including a mouthpiece to produce complex layers of harmonics. Offord also plays a wide range of traditional and original wind instruments, moonbells and percussion.
Offord's performances range from intimate solo concerts to grand scale ensemble works, often created for specific natural and architectural settings. As a soloist and with his group, Great Bowing Company, Offord has given concerts throughout the world and has represented Australia at Commonwealth Arts Festivals in Auckland and Edinburgh and at Expos in Brisbane and Seville, for the Sydney 2000 Olympic bid in Monaco and in World Drum Festivals in Canada and Queensland.
